What does Aerobics really mean?

The term Aerobic is typically defined to mean “with oxygen.” The aerobic energy system is dominant when adequate amounts of oxegen are transported to the cell to meet energy production needs. Muscle cells, contain structures called mitochondria. The mitochondria are the site of aerobic energy production. Most personal trainers and exercise specialist would agree that the greater the amount of mitochondria in the cell, then greater the aerobic energy production capacity of that cell.

With enough exercise intensity, the cardiovascular system produces every attempt to increase its delivery of oxygen into the mitochondria of exercising muscles to aerobically produce enough ATP.
